Influencer sparks fury after wearing ‘crazy’ see-through wedding dress

An Australian influencer has reignited the age-old debate about wedding guest etiquette after attending a friend’s wedding in a completely see-through dress.

Jade Yarbrough opted for a $1,000 dress by Australian brand Carla Zampatti as she witnessed her friends Anthony Bell and Annika Martyn tie the knot at the weekend.

Wearing white or anything that “distracts the bride” has long been considered “bad form” by etiquette experts, as it is seen as a deliberate move to sabotage or disrupt the wedding.

Because of this, Yarbrough’s pale blue dress — which is sold in three pieces, a pair of $99 “full shorts,” a $399 “mesh bodice” and a $499 skirt — has drawn criticism for its revealing nature.

Photos from the star-studded wedding show the interior designer, who was filmed in a Noosa park with ex Michael Clarke, had her lace bra on full display in her dress.

The signature charms, an essential item in the 3-piece Zampatti set, were also visible under the pale blue mesh skirt.

Yarbrough, 33, completed her cute wedding ensemble with a pair of black pointed heels and a mini clutch.

Fans were quick to praise the influencer, whose older sister is married Today Show presenter Karl Stefanovic, calling her outfit “crazy”.

But others described the outfit as “appalling” and claimed it was “inappropriate”.

“Not appropriate and just trying to get attention,” wrote one on Facebook.

“It’s contagious, rubbish,” raged another.

And another described it as a “revolting grab for attention”.

However, on Instagram, comments on Yarbrough’s post were far more complimentary, with many saying she looked “stunning”.

“Oh my god that outfit! Absolute perfection,” shared one.

“Girl this dress,” agreed another.

Yarbrough isn’t the first star to ruffle feathers wearing the blue dress, with the former MAFS Contestant Jules Robinson wore it to the 2024 Marie Claire Women of the Year Awards in Sydney on Wednesday.

Robinson she felt a “million bucks” in the see-through ensemble as she celebrated “game-changing women and their footprints who are driving real change in Australia”.

The 41-year-old appeared to be wearing a topless body under the racy dress in an attempt to make it less revealing.

However, like Yarbrough, it proved to be a divisive outfit among Robinson fans, with some flooding her comments section.

“Loved the color of your dress but just didn’t like the sheer style of the dress,” commented one.

“Beautiful lady, but the dress is not up to your standards,” claimed another.

As one said: “Jules you are so beautiful and I love that color on you. But I can’t wait until the strip show is over!”

Many said they “loved” Robinson’s dress, while others jumped to her defense, writing: “I find it so interesting that so many women thought they could comment their thoughts on your outfit.”
