Catching this train is to catch some Zs.
Rats, robberies, and routine delays are all the makings of a typical NYC subway ride.
But straphangers on a separate route are zipping through the city in pure peace, according to a new study that has crowned the Q train as the “sleepiest” rail in the Big Apple.
Think “Q” stands for “quick nap.”
“The Q train is the best subway line,” found study authors from CPAP.com, a virtual retailer of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines — devices used to treat sleep apnea.
“With an on-time operating rate of 96.1% and 195.8 million passengers boarding and disembarking the line at 29 stations annually,” the experts continued, “the 2nd Avenue/Broadway Express Line solidifies its #1 spot.”
The value is nothing to be upset about.
Slashing and slugging, surfing stunts and deadly slides often steal attention away from the subway’s more positive features.
But beyond the cozy comforts of the Q train, the underground subway system — which celebrated its 120th anniversary on Oct. 25 — has served as a buzzing backdrop to life-changing moments in the lives of New Yorkers.
Rick McGuire, founder of social media sensation @SubwayCreatures, previously told The Post that he considers the subway “the eighth wonder of the world.”
Unfortunately, however, this accolade does not track when the transit system is compared to others around the globe.
Sydney Metro, Australia’s largest train network, is ranked No. 1 sleep-friendly subway system on the ground, with 98% cleanliness and 92% customer satisfaction ratings, according to the CPAP study.
To determine the best subways for sleeping in NYC, researchers analyzed its 23 lines, rating each on air conditioning availability, WiFi access, bathroom access, customer satisfaction ratings and cleanliness rates.
The investigators also took into account on-time operation and annual movement to find the best Q on the tracks.
S 42 St, Franklin Ave and Rockaway Park Shuttles come in as the second best subway lines, according to the findings. Train 1, ironically, takes third place.
“With the NYC subway system serving millions of New Yorkers and tourists each year,” insiders said, “this ranking is sure to cause some discourse among riders!”
